Embrace change or become a dinosaur

I’m starting to think I should go and work for animal planet! Everything I do lately seems to have a connection to some kind of animal… and no for once I’m not just talking about snakes - although I will of course give you an update on them later on.
My boss came into the office the other day and handed me a CD of images from a new installation on the Rhino and Eland House at Woburn Safari Park. It's certainly going to be an interesting case study for me to get my teeth into but what on earth is an Eland? I'm really hoping I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue what an Eland is and for those of you who are wondering, according to Wikipedia an Eland is in fact an antelope!
I'll let you in on a ‘geeky secret', I've set myself a challenge to try and learn at least one new thing a day, I think that's my lesson learnt for today! Let's just hope Swine Flu doesn't have any affect on business at the safari park, the new Rhino and Eland House looks fantastic but I'm guessing it wasn't a cheap investment.
Before I move away from my animal subject I'll tell you about the kids too. It's all very exciting at the moment - we are going to become proud parents again! If all goes well in about 6 weeks time we could have over 70 kids - I know what you're thinking how do I keep in shape? Hee hee...
Well I have a different question on my mind, where on earth are we going to find a snake sitter? We go on holiday soon and I can't think of anyone who will happily look after 70 snakes!
Actually I wonder what weird and wonderful animals we will come across on our holiday, Snakehips has already been researching the different species of snakes you get in Egypt... gulp!
Anyway I think the Elands and the snakes are my highlights but I will let you in on a couple of animal encounters my colleagues have had... one went fishing and caught a duck (don't worry the duck was unharmed), another got chased by a turkey and last but not least my boss has introduced a ‘Fun Friday Email' and sent a picture of the cutest ass in the world!
Oh one last thing, I can't miss this opportunity to use one of my favourite sayings from my CIM course - ‘Embrace change or become a dinosaur!'
What a perfect expression given the subject of my blog and the Aliaxis restructuring announcement which went out earlier this week. I went on a course last year which spoke about change and why people are so reluctant to accept it, the answer was simple - people fear change because they don't understand it. Based on the information we have been given I think the new roles play to our groups expertise and will help enhance our business and services to face the challenges in the current and future market conditions. 2010 looks set to be a good year!
