Hunter Plastics pass Guernsey School test

Soil and waste and underground drainage pipes from Hunter Plastics are being installed as part of a major school rebuilding project on Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
Main contractor RG Falla is installing Hunter's MUPVC and PVC-U pipework at Hautes Capelles Junior School in the parish of St Sampson's. Designed by the States Department of Architecture for the States Education Council, the new £3 million school will accommodate up to 360 children aged from 7 to 11.
As part of their successful tender Hunter produced a detailed drainage design for the school. Over 600 metres of Hunter piping will be installed throughout the two storey school, which will include specialist facilities such as a swimming pool, library, music room plus 12 form classrooms, a science room and special needs room.
Local merchant Channel Distribution Services has supplied waste pipes and fittings in 32mm and 40mm sizes, and grey soil in 110mm. Underground drainage pipes and fittings have been supplied in 110mm and 160mm. The soil and underground pipes were all specified to have push fit connectors. The architects have also made use of 3" and 4" fire stop sleeves for the soil stacks and 17 Hunter Nouveau air admittance valves which prevent the need to run the stack through the roof.
Hunter does a 'Ground Job' for luxury Suffolk bungalows
Five new bungalows in Halesworth near Southwold, Suffolk, are benefitting from top quality underground drainage products from leading manufacturer Hunter Plastics, who have supplied a complete range of pipes, bends, traps, inspection chambers, and access chambers through local merchant, Kent Blaxhill.
The Hunter underground drainage products are serving five luxury detached bungalows set in the wooded grounds of an old Georgian Mansion, Highfield House. The development was carefully planned to avoid harming any of the 89 T.P.O. trees in the grounds, which include some very old oaks and cedars, with all underground services, cabling and pipework.
Ipswich based groundwork contractor Scannell Construction specified and installed the drainage equipment. "We always ensure quality in our work and this starts with the products we specify," says company director, Dave Daniels. "The Hunter products were within budget, delivered on time and problem-free to install - and that's the way we like them!"
Hunter PVC-U underground drainage products are lightweight and consequently far easier and quicker to install than more traditional materials such as clay, especially in awkward and cramped sites. PVC-U also offers a cleaner installation than other materials. At the same time, it is tough, impact-resistant, doesn't corrode and offers reliable performance.
The bungalows at Halesworth, being built by De Veers Ltd. of Aldeburgh, are each individually styled and comprise three bedrooms, bathroom, ensuite to master bedroom, cloakroom, kitchen, dining room, lounge and double garage. The timber framing and high quality specification on each bungalow gives a low `U-value', making them extremely energy efficient.

Mobile homeowners in Essex are benefitting from quality drainage as a wide range of high performance drainage products from Hunter Plastics have been installed at Dovercourt Leisure Park on the East Anglian Coast.
Situated between Clacton and Harwich, Dovercourt Leisure Park is an 80 acre site with 650 luxury caravans and holiday homes capable of housing over 2500 holiday makers. The park has a full range of on-site amenities including shopping facilities and an entertainment centre.
Hunter underground drainage products serve three new luxury residential units, (the largest being 20'x 38' and worth over £50,000). All three will be occupied all year round by their owners. Hunter products were supplied by Bill's local branch of building merchants Kent Blaxhill, who recommended Hunter underground drainage products as the best and most economical range for the park's needs.
"We go to a lot of trouble to make sure that our customers, whether they are on holiday or live at the Park, really enjoy themselves," says Bill, "so when we specify new equipment quality and reliability are vital to ensure the Park is problem-free and happy." He continues "This is particularly important with necessities such as drainage products. I think we'd soon know from our customers if we had a problem there!"
For the new residential units Bill also specified Hunter gully traps, non-return valves, inspection chambers, and access chambers and, along with his maintenance team installed all of the products himself.

Animal Magic

A variety of underground drainage and soil and waste products from Hunter Plastics are helping bring to life a new animal enclosure at a world famous safari Park. The rhinoceroses and their housemates the Eland (a large, African antelope) will be moving in to their new home this summer, and effective drainage has been installed thanks to Hunter underground pipes, fittings and inspection chambers.
Main contractor Barretts is installing Hunter's products at the Buckinghamshire tourist attraction as Woburn extends this facility with a view to increasing the herd and starting a breeding programme. The extension, designed by Barry Gardiner at architects Aspect Design, is scheduled for completion by July 2009 in order to maximise the facility's capacity in the key summer months.
The Buildbase branch in nearby Sandy supplied underground and foul water drainage products to suit the project's fast-track schedule. Paul Fuller from contractors Barretts explains. "The project only began in March and will be completed in time for the school summer holidays to make the most of the peak visitor season," he explains. "We needed products that were quick and simple to install and reliable once they are in."
Hunter Plastics's 160mm chamber system, which was used at Woburn, is both versatile and user-friendly. It has a 160mm through channel with swept side inlets - two at 160mm set at 90º and two at 110mm set at 45º - all with ring seal sockets making it fast and economical to install. All are closed with a removable plug, making Hunter's chamberbase the ideal choice for any drainage installation.
Apart from the joint between the base and first riser, no additional seals are required to achieve a totally watertight seal, while simple push-fit connection of pipework to the chamberbase requires no connectors or reducers for a reliable solution for virtually any application.
Hunter Plastics manufactures the widest range of PVC-U rainwater, soil and waste and underground drainage systems in the UK backed by a multi-award winning service offering and ISO14001 accreditation.
