The Black Country Museum, Dudley
The Endura is helping prevent grease accumulation from causing foul water blockages from the busy kitchens’ drainage system at the Black Country Living Museum one of Britain’s busiest museums.
The Black Country Museum in Dudley offers visitors a chance to experience a flavour of life in the area which became known as “The Workshop of the World” during the Industrial Revolution. Buildings from the period have been moved, brick-by-brick to the museum and these, coupled with live demonstrations of some of the trades which made the Black Country famous, make it a popular tourist attraction with visitors from all over the globe. Every year thousands visitors come through the gates, many of whom eat in the Museum’s café.
When sinks in the Museum’s kitchens started to continuously become blocked, the maintenance team called in local plumbing engineer Mick Foster of PlumbGas. He immediately identified the problem as being grease being discharged into the drains down the kitchen’s sinks. “I suggested to the museum that they install an Endura as I had heard that they were a straightforward and cost-effective way to deal with a grease management problem,” Mick comments. “I installed the Endura above ground and it was dead easy to fit. Because it was so quick and simple to install it kept disruption in he kitchens to an absolute minimum so the client was happy.” The museum’s maintenance team has put in place a planned programme of maintenance to keep the Endura working efficiently, allowing the kitchens to continue operating at optimum capacity.
Dragon Kiss, Weston Super Mare

The new Dragon Kiss bar and restaurant in Weston Super Mare will avoid foul water blockages from accumulated grease by installing Hunter Plastics’ new Endura grease interceptor. The DETR claims that a third of all foul water blockages are caused by grease and changes to part H of the Building Regulations will soon strongly recommend that all commercial hot food premises install grease separation systems.
The Dragon Kiss has a large bar and restaurant, licensed for 280 customers. The potential for blockages caused by accumulated grease is considerable and could be very disruptive to business. Local Builders Merchant Slocombe and Butcher recommended Hunter’s Endura interceptor to the project architect Philip Caine and it was installed by the building contractors Hood & Norville. Philip Caine says: “We looked at the Endura system on the recommendation of Slocombe and Butcher and were impressed with its cost and quality. It was also quick and easy for the contractors to install, helping to meet the deadline for the restaurant opening.”
McDonalds, Newcastle-under-Lyme
McDonalds Keeps Orders Flowing with Endura
When a busy McDonalds restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme needed to update its grease management system, the answer lay in an Endura grease interceptor from Hunter Plastics. Easy to fit, cost-effective and highly efficient, the Endura has proved ideal for even this demanding environment,
The Endura at McDonalds has coped comfortably with the grease generated by this busy restaurant. The management team has set up a service programme to ensure that the interceptor continues to operate efficiently with a general service every week and a planned quarterly overhaul by a visiting engineer.
One of the features of the Endura, which made it so attractive to the team at McDonalds, was its ease of installation and simplicity of operation. It can be installed underground, semi-recessed or, as in this case, above ground. It is considerably lighter and less bulky than alternative systems, so installation causes minimum disruption to the running of the kitchen since it is so quick and simple for one man to install and requires minimal remedial works.
McDonalds Franchisee Eddie Leligdowicz is enthusiastic about the Endura’s qualities. “What appealed to me initially was that the Endura is a doddle to fit and maintain. I had looked around the market at various options but the Endura stood out to me because it really is so simple yet effective,” he comments. “The unit has been running very effectively for months now and I have every confidence that it will continue to operate well for a long time to come. Last, but not least, the Endura represents excellent value for money and I will be recommending it to other McDonalds franchisees in the future.”
Commercial Kitchens
QinetiQ is a new science and technology facility formed from DERA, the British Government's elite defence research and development organisation. The Secure Operations Centre (SOC) at Malvern in Worcestershire offers managed security services for business, financial institutions and government agencies.
Installed two Endura grease interceptors and contribute (in their own way) to help keeping workers fed by preventing grease accumulation from causing foul water blockages from the busy kitchens’ drainage system. The new Endura grease interceptors serve a steaming oven used for cooking meat and the kitchens’ dishwasher. The potential for blockages caused by accumulated grease is considerable and could be very disruptive to the kitchens’ smooth operation.
Sandy Craig from Drain Doctor comments, “The Endura system is not only highly effective, it is also quick and straightforward to install meaning that we did not have to interrupt the operation of the kitchen too much.” All Drain Doctor technicians receive full training on Endura installation and also offer a full Endura maintenance and service offering.
New Millon Indian restaurant, Workshop

Installed at the New Millon Indian restaurant in Workshop where it will prevent grease accumulation causing foul water blockages from the busy kitchen drainage system.
The Endura grease interceptor was selected and installed by Drain Doctor of Sheffield whose director Phil Richards says: "Hunter's Endura system was perfect for the job, met the budget, and was readily available from a local stockist. You can't ask for more."
