Highflo at BUPA’s Cambridge Lea hospital

Hunter Plastics' Highflo PVC-U rainwater system has been used at three new extensions to BUPA's Cambridge Lea hospital. The high-capacity system is able to cope easily with high levels of rain from a large roof area, particularly important in this installation, as the guttering has been designed as a concealed system.
The Highflo system was specified by Chris Dixon of Gibberd Architects who says: "As the guttering is concealed, a good quality, high-capacity system is essential as any overflow would drain into the eaves and cause real problems. Hunter's Highflo system has already proved itself in previous applications".
The extensions were designed to match closely the original building which dates from 1987 and is a single storey, brick construction. A further advantage of the Highflo system was its compatibility with the guttering already in place in the existing building.
Highflo at Deer Park Farm, Staffordshire

A 170mm rainwater system. The Highflo system was installed to collect rainwater from large asymmetrical roofs from three buildings, at Deer Park Farm in Burton-on-Trent.
Due to the design and location of adjacent buildings, the installation had to limit the amount of downpipes which could be installed. The downpipes feed into three underground 12000 gallon rainwater storage tanks, for use in high pressure washing down. This all meant that the rainwater system had to be of a sufficiently large capacity to cope with the high flows expected.
Richard Mumford of Arthur Griffiths and Mumford comments "PVC-U rainwater systems are simply much easier to handle and install, especially high capacity products. At Deer Park Farm, the Hunter system certainly went up quickly and has coped well with some of the heavy storms we've had since the system was installed".
Highflo - Leeds homeless centre
A late Victorian former primary school in Leeds was transformed into a centre for the city's homeless . Through the construction charity Crash, Hunter has supplied its Highflo guttering system to provide effective drainage for the building's large roof area.
The refurbishment of St Charles School is being carried out by contractors Vincent Dobson (Builders) Ltd on behalf of Emmaus, a charity which aims to give homeless people "a bed and a reason for getting out of it."
Because of the building's large roof area, the contractors required a rainwater system which can handle large volumes of rainwater run off. Hunter Highflo is a 170mm rainwater system specially designed to cope with these kinds of situations and was specified in smart black to complement the building's Victorian design.
