A fantastic achievement

What a time to have taken over the helm at Hunter Plastics. The worst weather for 40 years and all my fault!

Seriously, nobody could have predicted the extreme weather that hit the UK last month. I am pleased to say that any of the Hunter team and the manufacturing crew at Lenham battled through the storms and awful driving conditions to ensure the effect on our customers was kept to an absolute minimum.

January was eventful for much nicer reasons.

Travelling to Manchester on Monday January 18th to attend the NBG annual supplier conference, I did not expect the day to turn out quite how it did.

By the way, being in the North West of England brings back a lot of memories. As an apprentice plumbing technician in the 1970s I spent many days on site in the Liverpool and Manchester areas. Interesting times with the building strike and massive government spending on huge estates. Quite a learning curve for a Leicester Lad, you can imagine how welcoming the local tradesmen were. Every trick in the apprentice baiting book was used!

To my surprise and pleasure on this occasion I collected on behalf of Hunter Plastics two awards, runner up as Lightside supplier of the year and runner up overall Supplier of the year.

This is a fantastic achievement by the team at Hunter and testimony to the commitment they show every day to getting things right first time and delivering on our service and sales promises.

Well done also to Toolbank and Lafarge who were the companies who beat us to first place. We want the winner’s position next year.

January has also seen the sale of West Ham United. At long last off the field activity should now take second place to the team’s climb up the Premiership table.

Being a supporter for over 40 years proves if nothing else, that I am able to be an optimist (and am probably slightly mad)
