Good News...
December 2011

I am delighted to be writing this blog looking at the award we have just picked up for a new and quite ingenious product that we have launched in 2011.
It may not sound like much but our "Ease of installation" Adjustable offset is just what long suffering installers have wanted for years.
It has won the DIY week Gold award for "Hardware product of the year"
I can remember being on a site in the 1970s (not sure what year), it was freezing cold and my job was to go around about 15 houses fitting downpipes. Getting the offset at the top of the pipe right was the most difficult part of the job. I think I lost count of how many times I went up and down ladders as I dropped bends and pipes off the scaffolding.
My boss at the time Roger Smith thought it was highly amusing.
I think part of his amusement was my attire (I was so cold I got my "Starsky" cardigan out of my car to wrap up) and looked well out of place on a building site - although it brings me great satisfaction to see they are back en vogue on the high street today.
But ultimately the moral of the knitwear & the nightmare job, is that if only I had the Hunter Adjustable offset I would have been home hours earlier.
Well done to Andrew Bennett our Product Designer and everybody who helped to develop this great range addition. It is nice to find something new in plastic rainwater, a system that has now been with us since the 1960s.
Bad News
For those of you who read my blogs regularly, you will know that I am equal in my passion for rugby and football, and I could not blog this week without reflecting on the sad loss of Gary Speed. What a great example he was to us - all his professional life. Enough said.
And Finally....
As we are approaching the Christmas period I wish everybody reading this a great Christmas holiday and a prosperous 2012.
